30 Days Challenge :: A Jumpstart on Living With Less Before More Comes In

I’ve recently jumped on the Rachel Hollis bandwagon.  Well sorta.  I read Girl Wash Your Face and keep finding myself on her site via Pinterest.  So when I saw her Last 90 Days challenge, I decided to join.  Honestly, I haven’t completed a full day yet, so mine might be more like a last 75 days or so but I’m going to try!

But this made me realize that Christmas is less than 90 days away.
And I’m T E R R I F I E D!
Not because of any real reason besides fact that the massive amount of SHIT that flows into my house during the holidays.  Do you not have this happen?!? I want to cry as soon as we get home and unload the car. Like seriously fall to the floor crying because I have no idea where it will all go.
Do you  feel like there’s something around every corner tripping you or making you feel like your hips have doubled in size?!?
Is the clutter just out of control?!?

This is not my house, but we do have a storage unit that probably resembles this right now…. But I swear, there’s just always so much stuff… EVERYWHERE!

And recently we’ve been seriously looking at moving.  At this rate, we can NEVER move because we have just too much to move!  I look around my house and think holy shit how do we have all this shit.  And by shit, I mean just about everything!  But I really really really want to move so the time has come to rid rid rid.   I know going through your house by yourself (because let’s be honest we know the hubs probably won’t help go through closets, drawers, and cabinets) can easily get overwhelming which got me thinking…

Starting October 15 I will be hosting a 30 Days Challenge.  As I write this I’m counting through the drawers or cabinets in my house.  OMG THERES SO MANY!!!  SEND HELP!!! I have at least 45 {insert face plant emoji).  But by hosting this challenge and making myself go through some things, I’m hoping this will help me majorly get things cleared out… I pray!  Plus, cleaning with friends is way more fun than alone and you can see you ARE NOT ALONE in the mess of things!  It won’t but up against any major holidays… It’s not too close to Christmas… You only have to deal with Halloween, Veterans Day, and follow it up with Thanksgiving.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT DO THIS AND THEN BRING IN ALL THE THINGS FROM BLACK FRIDAY!

Every day we will fill the tub for donation.  Anyone want to join?
Let’s do it!  Sign up here…

Here’s the “rules”
1.   First, there aren’t really any rules except to fill something with things to get rid of, every day for 30 days.
2.   Figure out what you’ll fill each day… A storage tub {NOT TO STORE!}, a trash bag, a Walmart bag, whatever…
*** This is the thing you will fill daily for 30 days so choose wisely.  Let’s just say I tested this out the other day by picking an old emtpy storage tub and going through ONE basket of stuffed animals (which filled it by itself), the small laundry room, and a cabinet at the top of my stairs.  Ummm… I ended up with 5 bags of stuff to let go of.  Meaning I could have filled this tub 5x in one night.  Don’t judge me.  It felt good. So what I’m saying is don’t be afraid to go BIG.

3.   Be Ready to Rid!
***It can be a lot to let go of things BUT it feels GOOD when you are done.  It’s also therapeutic.  See some suggestions for donation and letting go here.
4.   We are starting October 15th so you have like 10 days to get your mind wrapped around it and rally the troops!
***Share your plan with the fam and get them involved.  Maybe make a list of places you WANT to go through for sure and others that can wait.  And share with your friends… maybe make a fun competition of it!
5.  Figure out when you’ll drop things for donation.
***I plan to do 1x a week.  That means I’ll be taking 5-7 bags at a time depending when I go!
5.   Feel good about it!
***You are doing something that’s helpful to both you and who you are donating too!!
6.   Enjoy your emptied spaces!

Think of all the things around your house…
Clothes you haven’t worn.
Shoes you don’t like.
Books you don’t need or haven’t read.
Toys that need to go (don’t they all?!?!).
Things you haven’t seen in years – Yes, we all have those things in the drawers.
Cords
Office Supplies
Bags
Pillows
Sheets
And more!

Want to join me!?  I’d love to clean house with you!  Let’s do it!
Sign up here by entering your email and let’s get clearing out!

Let’s see how much we can let go off to make way for a lighter holiday season!
