Magic Mondays : A Rainy Day at Magic Kingdom

MAGIC OF DISNEY

Last time we went to Disney, every single bit of it was magical… Even the weather!
It was gorgeous every single day and started raining as we were on our way to the airport heading home.

But this time around, we spent a couple of rainy days at the parks.
It rained when we were at Hollywood Studios just a bit and it R A I N E D on our first day at Magic Kingdom.
And I mean it RAINED from 8am that morning until about 2pm that afternoon.
BUT I have to say that it was still pretty amazing. I might wish for {a little more} rainy weather from now on!

RAINY DAYS AT MAGIC KINGDOM

Wednesday’s at MK have late magic hours (or at least they did when we went) so we fully anticipated a long day…
After sneaking in a few Main Street Castle photos taking full advantage of our Memory Maker, we headed straight back to try to hit Peter Pan’s Flight before the line got too long.  When we got there about 20 min after opening, due to lines at the gate, it was already at a 45 minute wait.   So instead, we popped over to It’s a Small World.
This ride is always a good one, especially if it’s the middle of the day when your feet need a little rest.
We needed to get over to the Crystal Palace for breakfast so we didn’t have much time.
They have a character breakfast with Pooh and friends.
I wasn’t sure how the girls would do with these characters as I don’t think we’ve ever watched Pooh at our house, but they really enjoyed them!  Especially Tigger!  And the meal was just fine. The food is about the same as all the other breakfast buffets, and I was even able to spoil Olive with some morning chocolate ice cream!
Not sure if we were supposed to get into that or not, but we did.
After that, we headed out into the park where spent most of the morning in our rain jackets!

RAIN RAIN KEEPS THE CROWDS AWAY

First Fast Pass…
Peter Pan’s Flight…
And I know what you are thinking…  Didn’t she just write above about trying to get on Peter Pan’s flight before breakfast?!
Yes.
We did.
But the line is always so long that we wanted to try to ride it more than once… It might be one of my favorites.

Then we popped over to Prince Charming’s Royal Carousel for a quick trot and to our sweet suprise, our friends from Indy who were there the same day saw us and yelled our name!  We were too far away in line to catch up with each other, but what a small world!

Time for teacups!

There were a few things I wanted from this trip and one of the things was a photo of Olive on the Mad Hatter’s Teacups similar to the one I have of Ella!

SUCCESS!

Time for fast pass number two – Pirates of the Caribbean!
Another whole family fave!  I love this ride… It’s perfect for all ages and an easy float!
Not to mention that it’s nostalgic, quirky and there is so much to look at!
I swear that Jack Sparrow is sooooooo life-like.
I just stare and stare until it’s awkward for the others in our boat.

YO HO YO HO A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME!

And Fast Pass number three was for Jungle Cruise.
While I don’t know if this is truly worthy of a Fast Pass, the wait time is always so long that you just have to do it.
If you can get a Fast Pass early enough then it’s totally worth it!
With our three Fast Passes being used and it only being 12:30, we were in great shape for the afternoon.
And this put us out in the perfect location for a quick ride on Aladdin’s Magic Carpets and a visit to the Tiki Room!
I feel like the Tiki Room gets a bad rap, but it’s a classic that you need to go check out!
Lines are always short, and you get to sit in an air conditioned room.
Win Win.

FRONTIERLAND

Then it was time for a quick service lunch at Pecos Bills.
We decided to grab our food and stake out our spot for the parade while we ate.
So we got the best seats in the house, if you ask me, for the best parade in the universe.
Festival of Fantasy starts at 3pm.  The cast members and floats start out right by Splash Mountain and Pecos Bills so we were nestled into the perfect spot to see FOF right out of the gate! People start staking out their spots as early as 2pm so be ready to take a break before the parade starts. And note, there are lots of places you CANNOT stand, sit, etc!  So once you see the ropes starting to go up, chat a cast member up to find out where is a good spot for you to sit!
Also a huge bonus to this location is that because the parade starts here, it ends here first too!
Which means you are the first to get back to the rides!
Can you believe all this was basically before lunch!
I could write about Magic Kingdom for weeks!
There’s so much to do there and so much to share…
Following the parade Mike & Ella shot right over to Big Thunder Railroad where they was only a 10 min wait!
They even popped on Splash Mountain too!
The parade cuts off all openings to Frontierland so you can avoid lines back that way if you are in the right spot!
After a thrill ride, it’s time for a haunted one…
Haunted Mansion is one of my husbands favorite rides.  Maybe this is where he gets his love for Halloween?
While the girls weren’t to keen on this ride, we made them do it anyways, because we are good parents and know they’ll love it some day.

GHOSTS COME OUT TO SOCIALIZE

Since we’d spent most of our morning in Frontierland, we decided it was time to head over towards Main Street again.
I wanted to see the Move It! Shake It! MouskeDance It! Street Party.
I had like two things on my major “to see” list for this trip – Sprinkles Cupcake Vending Machine and the Street Party.
Apparently, I’m easily amused.  I had seen a preview of this on Disney Channel, probably one of those times when Disney Channel was on and no kids were home, and it looked like a really good time!   EVERY ONE fought me on this one… I mean no one wanted to sit and wait for a street party.
But I made them.
And before that started, we grabbed a magical Starbucks, and took a break to watch Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire which included Olive’s favorite gals from Frozen so she was all in!
But don’t worry… everyone loved the street party and EVERYONE danced… I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Ella dance that much or that hard before!

Move It! Shake It! MouskeDance It! Street Party

After the street party, we headed back to Fantasyland for basically the first time of the day…
Yes, I know we were there a bit earlier but we hadn’t gone past Peter Pan’s Flight.
We had spent most of the day in Frontierland and honestly I was ok with that!
We hadn’t beat up our feet too badly this way!  But now it was time to head to see Ariel and Dumbo…
On the way, we noticed the line starting to form where we had visited Merida the last time we were at MK so we jumped in before it got too crazy and watched the sunset behind the castle while we waited!
I feel like Merida’s area is somewhat hidden – and she’s so sweet you just can’t miss her!
THIS particular Merida was awesome!  She was quick witted and perfect!
Olive asked her where Muldoon was and she was like “um….. very very far away…” and EVERYONE laughed!
We’d been watching the wait times rise all afternoon as the sun came out and the rain went away, the crowds came back out and the wait times grew and grew!  So even Under The Sea had at least a 40 min wait time almost every time we looked, but since it was getting late, we decided to do it when we saw it was down to only 20 minutes.
I took this picture below of the three of them looking up at the same time… something caught their eye!
So much to look at and great music on this ride!  Who doesn’t love The Little Mermaid?
Then we headed over to ride Dumbo.
With a 10 min wait time, we couldn’t resist and this is the perfect ride to do with the little ones!
We rode as a family as the last of the sun disappeared completely from the sky, then split up and Olive and I rode again while Mike and Ella headed over to the Barnstormer, another jerky, short, and fun roller coaster for the littles!
Not the super littles though, so Olive and I went to ride Dumbo again…
And broke it…
Not really, but we were stuck on it for about 2-3 minutes just hanging out up high in the sky!
They offered another ride on the other side, but we were ready to go get a decent spot for the fireworks.
They 100% thought I was upset, but honestly I just didn’t want to go again…  I was fine with the half ride we had!
When we got in front of the castle something was already playing… and I’m not quite sure of the name of it, but it was basically videos projected on the castle for about 15 minutes.  Since we hadn’t seen Happily Ever After yet, we weren’t sure if it was it or not, but quickly realized it wasn’t with very little fireworks to go with it.
But the funny thing, a ton of people left after this show.
Apparently, they didn’t want to wait around for 15 minutes for the Happily Ever After show to start so we got to move up to a really decent spot!
Once the fireworks were over, it was time for MAGIC HOURS!  The girls were spent, but we go from dawn to dusk and they were troopers!   I think we had snagged a Pirates Fast Pass so we headed back over there and since Olive was sleeping and we knew where the camera was…
We got this…
Then we popped back over to Small World…
Snuck in the line for pictures with Cinderella’s Carriage which was supposedly only out for Valentine’s day…
Then rode the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh for the first time ever for any of us…
*No pictures because I couldn’t get anything that wasn’t blurry – Thanks Tigger!
And were even able to sneak in the Rapunzel picture line by 9:59.
Needless to say, our last two hours were JAM PACKED.
Just how we like it!
Can you believe we did all this in one day?!
It was kind of insane.  But honestly it was the best.  Disney is so awesome.
It’s like you walk in and are happy.
And this time around, while we did have a few more “challenges” as a family, at the end of the day we made some pretty awesome memories!

That recap makes me tired.  I am always amazed at how much we fit in and how well we do with lines and such.  I think we usually play it pretty smart with doing the research ahead of time.  The time of the year we go doesn’t hurt either!

Only two days left of our trip to recap and one of those is back at Magic Kingdom!  I just wanted to end with I was worried about the rain leading up to our trip.  We could tell for about a week before that it was going to rain at least three days we were there.
But in the end, I think this was my favorite day in the parks!  We were prepared with jackets, covers and ponchos and didn’t let the rain ruin our day!
If this happens to you, try to make the most of it because even rainy days can be magical at Disney!

Have a Magical Day!

Gather a bunch of one thing together and you can make a pretty easy gallery wall. I had all of these but two, which I grabbed at Hobby Lobby for 50% off so, this little wall cost me $25.

It’s not always about how much you spend, but the statement it makes. Loving my new little wall of cutting boards… the wood tones bring in a natural warmth and while these don’t have stories yet, they might after a few years and uses!

Last night, just before 9pm, Olls and I headed out Last night, just before 9pm, Olls and I headed out on a bike ride to try out my new @everlasting_comfort bike seat! We actually realized we probably wouldn’t be riding our bikes much this week so figured we better get a ride in before the heat arrived in Indiana again!

I was pleasantly surprised with this seat though…I always use Mike’s bike because I don’t have one at the moment and it’s seat always feels a bit wonky and creaky. We also call his bike the clown car 🤡 because the breaks squeak like a horn but that’s besides the point 🤣Anyways, this seat was so easy to install that I said multiple times to Mike “that’s it?!” And it was comfy too! With memory foam padding, what booty wouldn’t like that?!

Can’t wait to get out there again once the temps come down… but maybe that gives me time to work on those squeaky brakes! 🤡🤪

So…if you are looking for a new bike seat, this may be it! It was an #amazonmusthave for me and there’s a link in my bio to get yours too!

This Sherpa blanket is so comfy and cozy and even big enough for two people so when the girls want to cuddle I can let them in too! And it comes in another color! Totally crushing on it…

Did a little rearranging around here yesterday bec Did a little rearranging around here yesterday because guests were coming over… I also hung some pictures and other things. It’s funny how even small changes can make a house feel more like a home… And it’s also funny that when one project comes to a closing point, how quickly others come into view! New projects and shares coming soon!

But can we just take a moment to give thanks for gatherings and visitors? I hosted wine night last night so it made me clean the house 🤣 And who doesn’t get amazing satisfaction from a clean space?! Believe me, this doesn’t last long here 🤣

My only saving grace is that the kids will basically be gone for a little over a week… 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 it stays clean while they are home for a day 🤣

Last week I ran a Memorial Day 10k and when I came Last week I ran a Memorial Day 10k and when I came home we had big pool plans for the day! Well, I ended up falling asleep and then when I woke up, this one was asleep! I sat next to her and she rolled over and curled up on me…

I sat there thinking how much longer will I have this? These little moments? I’ll just soak it in…

Sometimes we have big plans but there are other plans in store for us…
Sometimes we just have to go with the flow…
It’s hard to believe we aren’t really in charge, but sometimes we just have to sit back and believe that it’s all going to be fine… even if it’s not how we planned!

Do you all have a piece of furniture that you just can’t figure out where to go?! First, don’t be afraid to move things around (all. The. Time.). It’s ok! But second, don’t force it… sometimes it takes time to realize the perfect place for something.

Over the last few weeks, we have been singing “T Over the last few weeks, we have been singing “The Neverending Story” song at our house (thanks Stranger Things) and it’s funny how that song relates to how this project feels like it is going! 🤪 It feels neverending over here! Not many new big updates for the @oneroomchallenge @apartmenttherapy #oneroomchallenge but once again small strides mean progress in the end!

While we are still trying to figure out what to do about the color of the table, we added the beginnings of landscape beds and even a new garden bed! I’ve been to @loweshomeimprovement more than I’d like to admit in the last week 🤦‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

But read about all the updates on the blog today — I’m also gearing up for table staining/painting, garden details, lighting updates, and a couple other {hopefully} quick DIYS! 3 weeks to go!

I remember when the pandemic first started I thoug I remember when the pandemic first started I thought, why not try a garden. We had a really dinky little guy that housed lettuce, cucumber, and some tomatoes that just wouldn’t grow. And I basically forgot about it midway through the summer 🤣🤦‍♀️

This year we are a little more settled and I am ready to this task once tackle again… We added garden beds to the @oneroomchallenge @apartmenttherapy backyard makeover we are doing and I think they are going to be perfect!

Do you garden?! What’s your favorite thing to grow? For me, there’s just something about having your own lettuce for a quick lunch salad! Yum!!!

I’m heading out again today to grab landscaping things and florals for planters because I’m pretty sure we are in the clear for no more frosts and freezes! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I went earlier in the week to @menards for the remaining lumber we needed and had to wear a winter coat! I hope we’ve finally crossed into true spring!

Do you ever plan something in your head where your Do you ever plan something in your head where your children will be involved and then when it gets down to it you’re the only one doing the project? Well that was me last night…

Every Earth Day rolls around and I always want to make seed paper or flower bombs so I finally did it. While I thought it would be a great project to involve the kids on, they were over it by the time I got to it last night. So this exhausted, tired momma rolled these little seed bombs as the sun was setting!

I’m actually thinking I might make some more and use in my landscaping/garden/flower pots for the @oneroomchallenge! 🌻 I already have plans to pass these out to teachers and neighbors!

I shared the details on this easy DIY for the birds, bees, and butterflies, along with a cute little printable on the blog #linkinmybio! How will you celebrate #earthday2022 🌎?

While it doesn’t feel like much, I just keep saying there’s 5 weeks left, you are doing great, but yes, you’ve got a lot to do!
