So Summer is quickly coming to a close over here, but I’m still working on getting back to my bikini body. I’ve started a new program that is actually pretty cool. It’s flexible and small and the owner/creator is right alongside you in the facebook groups. But I figured it was time for a little self care.
I am always feeling 100% uncomfortable in my own skin. While I do feel like you lose yourself in your thirties as you give everything you have to your kids, your husband, your house, and your work so you inevitably forget about yourself, there is something to be said for just not feeling like yourself.
For me, this was not being happy. Binging too much TV. Missing alarm clocks. Making bad food choices.
Of course, with all those things comes weight gain.
TAKE TIME FOR YOU
One word: Uncomfortable.
That about sums up how I feel on most days.
I’m uncomfortable in my own skin.
I don’t feel like me.
It’s that feeling of being fat and uncomfortable.
Am I supposed to like this mom body of mine?
Ever since having kids I’ve felt like this. I don’t feel good about getting dressed. I’d rather throw out my clothes than put them on. It’s nervewracking to be around my husband. My attitude about hanging out with friends has changed. I absolutely HATE having pictures of myself taken. I feel less than. And yes, it’s mostly because of my weight.

Now, I’m ready. I’m ready to get back to me. I’m ready to take care of myself. This sounds silly, but part of me being me is being able to feel comfortable in my clothes. Since I’ve been working out, and by that I mean consistently running 3x a week for over a month, so I decided it was time to invest in myself a bit. I had to show myself that I could commit to something first, so when I hit that milestone, I got myself some flowers and decided to try Refine You.
Refine You is a customized 7 week online fitness and nutrition program from Kim Goletz here in Indianapolis. I love that she’s local and yes, I’ve actually done a SOLIDCORE class right next to her! Just because she’s in Indy, doesn’t mean you can’t join though! The program will guide you with safe, highly effective strategies that lead to fat loss, muscle gain, and ultimately to a fit and healthy lifestyle that you can reasonably maintain.
I’m excited to try to keep up with this lifestyle change. So far, 1 prep week and middle of week 1, I have done pretty good considering. I’m working on this all coming off of a week being sick, and dealing with breathing issues, but I’m pushing through. Planning is key and I’m very lucky that my littles enjoy cauliflower rice. Without them really knowing, I’m throwing my family in the mix too. There’s lots of low carb foodie options out there. They’ll be enjoying the same dinners and we are going to try more smoothies too! Sometimes thinking about yourself is good for everyone!
