When we first moved into our house, we decorated for all the holidays, but mostly for Christmas. Once we lived there a few years, we stopped. I think having kids and it being freezing and with our schedules were pretty busy for a while. But while we stopped decorating for Christmas, our love for Halloween décor never left us. We took over as the resident Halloween Décor Crazies in our neighborhood.
It started with The Monster Box. I think the mister made this when Ella was one. It was a hit with E V E R Y O N E.
It made noises, opened and closed and even fogged a bit.
It hung around for a good three years, but then we wanted a refrigerator in our garage so it had to go… It took up way too much space.
Every year we would add more…
First it was the box…
Then it was Rodger…
Then we added cemetery gates…
And boards on the windows…
Then we decided to change it up a bit… doing a more Hocus Pocus theme last year with witches and other creepy things…
This year, our oldest decided she wanted to be an Alien Abduction for Halloween. I thought she was kidding but she asked for that costume for 3 weeks straight. Once it was ordered, we decided the little one would be a Toy Story Alien from the Claw and we’d decorate the outdoors with a UFO.
And there it was…
The mister got to making and after many fights and disagreements on what could be done, how much to spend, and where to put things we finally had it!
After Halloween I’ll see if I can’t get a tutorial up on how we made it! All in all it was pretty easy… 🙂
So… Happy Halloween!
Oh, and then this happened…
