Last night we were lucky enough to be able to go see Ralph Breaks the Internet BEFORE it hits theaters tomorrow! Woo hoo! Do you all know how big of Wreck-It-Ralph fans we are?! I mean, we love love loved that movie and we quote it all the time. There were talks of us dressing as Wreck-It-Ralph characters for Halloween last year, but we just couldn’t get it together. Anyways, it’s one of those movies that is constantly on replay at our house so almost a year ago when we heard there was going to be a 2nd, we couldn’t wait! And Thanksgiving couldn’t come soon enough!
And here we are and there we went!
You pick up right where you left off! Ralph enjoying his life as a bad guy and Vanellope enjoying her life as racer. But there’s nothing wrong with dreaming big and when something happens to Vanellope’s game, they have to figure out how to fix it! Enter “Wifi” and how they pronounce this is comical. Love that part.
WE MET RALPH & VANELOPE
Then Ralph and Vanellope sneak into the Internet and that’s where the story really comes to life. I don’t want to spoil anything, but you will follow these two as they see all that is the internet including Ebay, Viral Videos, Search Engines, and Viruses. Lots of laughs, a few tears (maybe just from me), great stories of friendship and love for one another. And the princess scenes are amazing!!! Like seriously, they might be the best parts!
My review?
All in all, I liked it. I was hoping for some good music again like “When Can I See You Again?” and “Sugar Rush” which I didn’t find during this movie. So, that was lacking a little, but there is a good song from Imagine Dragons that adds to the fun for the credits. I did think the jokes were funny but lots were way over my kids heads and the characters were interesting enough. I kind of wish the dark parts were a little less dark and more Disney. Like one of the games is called Slaughter House which kind of made me sad that we couldn’t think of something with a nicer name for kids. That sounds naïve, but seriously with all the nasty in the world I was hoping Vanellope and Ralph would stick to the classics…
Listen…
The first Wreck It Ralph movie was a true classic. The music worked, the jokes worked, and the characters were witty, fun different and new to us. This time around new characters work too, but it did feel slow in a few places. I also felt the first was a little more all-around lovable where as this one does have a bit of darkness and that did kind of throw my littles off a bit.
Would I go see it again? Yes.
Will it be a staple movie at our house? Probably.
Do we still love Ralph? Yes.
Did my kids like it and sit through the entire movie? Yes.
And make sure you download an app called Noovies so you can play the interactive game while you wait for the show to start! We didn’t know until we went in and then it wouldn’t load. But it’s a fun game to keep the nuggets occupied while you wait for the show to start.
