We are going to Disney. In less than 20 days!!! DISNEY WORLD!! And the kids don’t know it!!! Well, Olive does, but everyone think she’s just talking gibberish when she says she wants to go to Disney World! Hehhhehehe. So while it’s been one hell of a time getting there (I’ll share that another time), I thought it would be fun to go down memory lane from our first trip to disney…
FIRST DISNEY TRIP
Last time, we took Ella when she was 2.999 years old for her 3rd birthday. Originally we had planned it to be her last hurrah before a new baby, but then we had a miscarriage. As a family, we decided to still go and ended up having the most magical, most amazing, most beautiful time! Ella still talks about this trip which made us even more excited for this time around.
We choose to go the week of President’s Day and didn’t realize the park would be crazy busy our first day because kids were out of school. It didn’t matter because it was still so awesome.
Here are a few favorite first trip to Disney moments from last time around…
The first time we walked up to Magic Kingdom and waited for the opening ceremony. I don’t believe they have this anymore, but it was the perfect way to start the day!
MAGICAL DISNEY TRIP
FAMILY PHOTOS
Taking family photos basically everywhere there was a photographer. And always genuinely smiling. They really do mean it when they say the “happiest place on earth.”
MEETING THE MOUSE
Meeting Mickey for the first time. OMG I was blown away. He spoke Portuguese to the lady in front of us and then he danced with Ella. It was seriously the most magical moment ever. I mean 2nd to bringing Ella into this world…
FREAKING MAGICAL.
EPCOT
Being silly at Epcot. It was a little rainy that day, like drizzly all day… and the park wasn’t too crowded. We had a great time and these in front of the Epcot ball are my favorite pictures from the trip.
PRINCESSES
Meeting lots and lots of princesses was high on the first trip to Disney priority list. And we met L O T S. This was with Belle at Askerhaus. While I haven’t been to The Royal Tables, I would say that this spot is one not to miss. We were told it was much better than Royal Tables and it didn’t disappoint (even if we had nothing to compare it to). Ella was even chosen to hold Snow Whites basket and lead the kids around the room.
ANIMAL KINGDOM
Visiting the Tree of Life. This thing is insanely cool. I remember going when I was a senior in high school with some friends for a couple days and this had just opened. Seeing it then was really cool, but as an adult with children, I feel like I can now appreciate it more. We had a great time at Animal Kingdom, but so much has changed since then that I can’t wait to head back!
And lastly, my absolute favorite moment (or at least top 3) from our trip last time…
CINDERELLA’S STEP-MOTHER & STEP-SISTERS
For an entire day, Ella told us she wanted to meet them. We had no idea where to find them, or how they would really be (attitude wise) and they were the BEST characters we saw all week. We warned Ella that they might be rude or not nice as they are not nice to Cinderella in the movie and she assured us they were going to be cool. And sure enough, they were. They were AMAZING with her… too sweet and talkative and I swear she could have talked to them for hours. So glad we asked around and were able to make this happen.
AMAZING FIRST TRIP TO DISNEY
So here we go… less than 20 days before we leave and reminiscing is the best way to get excited about it! It’s so close!!!
The countdown to Disney has begun! Now to pack!
