Yes, this week will probably be all about Disney. We are getting excited. We also have a ton of surprises in store for the week and we’ll be there for Valentine’s Day so I’m working on a cute little Valentine Surprise for them to wake up to.
It will include candies, a book, a couple small trinkets, and of course EARS. But I decided to make a version myself.
Here’s what you’ll need to make these:
*That is, if you want to 🙂
Hot Glue & Glue Gun
Scissors
Thick Felt
Mickey Ears Template
Valentine Heart Picks
Headbands
Valentine Themed Pom Poms
Floral Sprigs
Red Sequin Ribbon
And here’s what I did…
First, I found an ear template. They are super easy to find, so feel free to search, but here’s the one I used.
Trace this out on your felt and cut it out. I used the firm felt. It’s by the felt in the craft store but comes in bigger sheets and has a thickness to it so it’s not so flimsy. You”ll need about half a sheet to make two pairs of ears.
*I did use the extra circle to put inside the ears in hopes of adding more stability.
Then, I grabbed pre-made hearts from Valentine picks. They had long wire stems on them which I believe were for floral arrangements. BUT they were the perfect size and weight and saved me from taking on more cutting. Snip off the stem and leave just the heart. I found these at Hobby Lobby in the Valentine Sections right by our registers. Hot Glue these to your Mickey ears.
Next, I added pom poms. I figured this would give a cute whimsy feel and still keep them looking childish for the girls. I went with all pinks and reds for this set of ears. Arrange them in whatever order or look you prefer, but I alternated colors and then added poms where there seemed to be “holes.”
Then, I added some flowers. I grabbed two different floral stems. Ones that looked like tiny ranunculus and another that looked like small carnations. I did choose to get one floral in a peach color to add a little contrast. And I like how they ended up. They almost have a Coco feel to them… I’m not really sure why I feel that way, but I do. I’m very pleased with how they look.
Lastly, I added some sequin ribbon around the ears to cover up some of the imperfections . While it’s not perfect, the ears look more finished and polished with them having this touch added. They also add a little bit of unexpected sparkle.
Now to get the little nuggets to actually wear them.
But if they don’t, you might just see me sporting them around the parks…
Have a Magical Day!
