Have you ever made Oobleck before?! It’s the easiest science, art, gloopy, slimy, messy thing ever.
And all you need is two ingredients – cornstarch and water.
OOBLECK
I had never heard of it until I got my new Meri Cherry process art handbook. I had just gotten the book and we were looking for something easy to do that we didn’t need to run to the store for. We flipped flipped to this page and were set!
Having never made it before, I’m not sure if we did it right and we did run out of the cornstarch so we might not have had the perfect amount, but it was about an hour of fun for the girls on the patio.
What you need:
1.5cup cornstarch
1cup water
Wooden spoon
Optional add ins :: Food coloring, small bowls, tiny figurines, pasta strainer
PROCESS ART
Mix the cornstarch and water and food coloring if you like. We used like 2 drops of red to get this pink. When cornstarch and water are mixed together, it becomes a substance that turns from solid to liquid with movement.
We did straight oobleck with just bowls and strainers this time. Next time we will try to add more fun things. And we made the girls play with it outside just like slime. The mess looks worse than it is because this mixture washes off easily with water!
So if you aren’t a huge slime fan like me, this might be a fun alternative!
