The State Fair is here and it’s a great state fair!
There are so many things to see and do while you are there that you could easily spend an entire day (unexpectedly) and still not see it all!
But it’s good to go prepared! Here’s 5 State Fair tips to help with you having an amazing experience at the fair this year!
FREE FAIR FUN
1. Plan Ahead
It’s easy to get overwhelmed once you arrive at the fairgrounds so make sure to check out all the fair has to offer online before you get there. The website has each day’s events, as well as midway and food vendor information and much much more! Lookup details on new fair foods, guest appearances, meet and greets, concerts, animal show contests, specials, and midway details. Visit www.indianastatefair.com for all the info!
2. Extra Battery
While we never had this issue before, I swear we rarely go anywhere now without an extra battery pack. I’m not sure if the service is just crowded because of the high attendance, or if the signal was just bad, but my phone died pretty early. But if you are going for a couple of hours or all day, be sure to take an extra battery pack for extra charge when you need it. Of all the state fair tips out there, this one is crucial if you plan on spending the day at the fair!
3. Good walking Shoes
Listen, I know you probably want to be cute but believe me, you will regret the flat sandals when you wake up the next day. Make sure to wear good walking shoes or tennis shoes and you will be good to go! Plus, some rides/fun houses require closed toe shoes.
4. Sunscreen/Hats
New this year (or maybe I missed it last year) are sunscreen stations which is AWESOME! Free sunscreen is so great because we all know we forget sometimes! But, I’m still putting sunscreen in my tips because some are more particular than others. While there is plenty of shade around, there’s also plenty of spots that do not have any cover. Bring hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen to comfortably survive what could be a long day.
5. Patience
ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE GOING WITH KIDS. This will be the best of all the state fair tips. Not only will there be lines here and there, but there will be times when your child has missed their nap, won’t eat what you buy, want to play more games, etc and you need to be patient and able to just brush it off and keep going without losing it! I know this may seem silly, but when it’s hot out and you are tired, it’s easy to blow your top! Take everything in stride and enjoy the day!
And remember to take it all in!
The fair only comes around once a year and it’s a great place to hang with the fam, enjoy summer traditions, and make memories!
