Fort Wayne.
Where I grew up.
Where my family still lives.
Where my husband’s families live.
Under 2 hours north of Indy and somewhere we visit often.
And some of the coolest murals around…
But typically when we visit, we aren’t touristy. We don’t go downtown except maybe to eat or catch a tincaps game. We don’t get out to the museums often. Because when we are home, we are bouncing back and forth from house to house to family to family to dinner to dinner.
Well last weekend I drove up to Fort Wayne on a Friday to visit the new Promenade Park — which is pretty amazing… Add it to your list…
And while I’m not moving back anytime soon, there are some pretty cool things that Fort Wayne has going for itself…
And since it’s Friday, let’s talk art.
EXPERIENCE THE ARTS
It was just Olive and I because Ella was in school, but we had a little time before the event started so we walked around Downtown Fort Wayne and checked out the Fort Wayne murals and exploding Public Art Scene.
Some of these are really cool and funky.
Most of the murals are located between Washington & Berry and Harrison & Calhoun.
They make beautiful photo backdrops, full of color and detail!
Some had added textural detail like this guitar mural…
And who doesn’t love a panda with ice cream on their head and nose?!
Some is more abstract, but it’s still pretty cool.
And while we didn’t hit all the murals, we hit as many as we could within about 45 min or so. You can see all our other adventures of the day here.
Click the map below which is helpful with regards to what is where…
I had a handheld printed one that you can pick up at the Visit Fort Wayne Offices, but this works too!

And while we were driving around, we came upon a couple other Fort Wayne murals that were pretty neat too! They were just outside downtown so don’t make the map, but still are worthy of noting! Both are off Wells Street.
So, have you walked around town to check out the murals? Or do you have a favorite?
Of all these, I really loved the entire alley done with BREATHE and different patterns.
And next week we’ll share more on Promenade Park and our visit to the zoo which is sure to include some pictures from the past too!
If I can find them!
