Last week we snuck away to Fort Wayne to visit the NEW Promenade Park and it was awesome! Not only did we have an awesome time there, Olive made the news! You can see the clip here…
But Fort Wayne has so many more things around town to check out like it’s art scene and of course, it’s nationally recognized zoo!
FORT WAYNE CHILDREN’S ZOO
Growing up in Fort Wayne, we were spoiled by having this amazing zoo right in our backyard. It was the best place to visit as a kid with it’s rides and interactive experiences and while its had quite a few upgrades since the times of my childhood, it still has a magical feel about it! Each destination around the grounds transports you to that location/country and you are right there with the animals.
One of the best parts of the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is it’s photo ops around every corner! I felt like we only explored about half of the zoo and we were able to hit all of these fun picture stops. There are statues or photo props that are situated around and the perfect spot to strike a pose!
You must sit with the Orangutan, Turtle and Zoo sign for sure… and the others are just a lot of fun…
Oh, and make sure you take the time to catch a wave!
Once you head in, you can visit Africa, Indonesia, Australia, or the Central part of the Zoo.
I thought we only explored half the zoo, but maybe we just did it at turbo pace because technically we went to all of these areas!
Olive chose to get her face painted almost right when we got in… And it made this little cutie pie even more magical to look at!
Reminded me so much of her sister when she was younger…
Walking around Africa, we enjoyed seeing all the animals including a wildebeest in the water, a frog in its natural habitat, lots and lots of monkeys, and a giraffe! I love how up close and personal you can get with the giraffes here!
You can feed the giraffes lettuce at certain times during the day and they come right up like this to enjoy the treat!
You’ll find all kinds of fun little spots for the kids to play and engage with! In Africa there’s this broken down jeep, drums, tents, and egg shells for the kids to enjoy and take pictures with!
When I was little they had Zebra jeeps like this that were a ride! It was awesome and this is their homage to that ride I assume…
There’s a lot that has changed since I was a kid, but it’s still a place I love to visit as an adult! And love to share with my kids…
And there’s some things that haven’t changed since I was a kid…
Like the log ride…
The Freely Roaming Peacocks…
The Pony Rides…
And the train ride…
And of course… Froggy.
There’s so much fun to do and see here! Olive really enjoyed the Orangutans, The Reef, and the Train…
It was an awesome day to spend with my little girl, just some one on one time.
