HELLO THERE
Oh Hello There! With it being a new year, and having a few new friends following, I figured it might be fun to share an introduction of myself. I’m not very good at talking about myself so we shall see how this goes, but below you’ll find a few things about me that will give you a little insight to me and this little blog of mine.
Thank you so much for visiting. Hello, Hello, Hello! I hope this blog finds you well. This week will be all about good things for the new year and maybe a recap of 2019. You’ll find (today) introductions, lifestyle changes, resolutions, and more! And as the year goes on, I hope to continue to find more things to share!
ONE
I’m Abigail. Most people call me Abby, some call be Babs, and some Crabby Abby when I’m in a mood which happens… because well… we all get in moods.
TWO
Hello Martha! This blog is 10 years old. It’s older than my house, my kids, and my marriage! It’s like a little baby to me so that’s why I keep it going. It’s a blog about good things as Good Old Martha would say and I named it after her when someone called me Little Miss Martha because I used to bring in martha-esque snacks or desserts when in reality they were more like Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee, but that’s how it got it’s name.
THREE
I used to be a professional ice skater. Professional in shows and also as a coach. I also completed all the testing you could at the time for Freestyle & Moves in the Field making me a USFS Gold Medalist. Which seems silly now that I’m out of the skating world, but it’s something I hold close to my heart because I worked my ass off to get to that level and gave up many things to do so.
FOUR
I love coffee. Like drink a pot all day and then go to Starbucks (or wherever) to get another at lunch. It’s like my drug of choice. And I like it black. If I do get a drink it’s a plain latte with one splenda. That’s my drink of choice.
FIVE
My house is always a mess which is why you typically see very little of it on here….but I’m hoping to change that. And I don’t go by the excuse the mess we are making memories motto, it is just always a mess that I can’t keep up with.
SIX
I love to craft and make things. I think deep down I’m a maker and teacher at heart. I’d love to do nothing else besides create all the time, but life sucks and we all must do things we don’t enjoy from time to time.
SEVEN
I have two kids, a dog, and a husband. We live in Indiana and we have lived in our house too long. It’s time for a change and that will not be another child, so hopefully moving is in our future!
EIGHT
I like to run and clear my head that way. I don’t like to do it consistently because I have a hard time getting motivated when it’s cold or raining. But I did sign up for my 2nd mini marathon which will be happening in the spring! Wanna join me?!
NINE
I hate bedtime. It’s like my kids think amazing things happen after they go to sleep that they miss out on… but they don’t! I swear! But no matter what time I start bedtime, I never get to bed before 11pm. And I’m always exhausted.
TEN
I’m working on building up a few things this year!
Myself – My confidence has dwindled the last few years and I want to get it back.
This Blog – I want it to be something informative and helpful and somewhere you want to look!
Business — I started Adopt A Fairy Company to bring cheer and kindness into my kids lives and have seen it grow the last couple months… but from here on out, I’m hoping for growth each month!
ELEVEN
I also love licorice. Most brands but only cherry flavor. And my favorite I’ve never been able to find since I was a little kid – it was a Brach’s version that you could “sample” at the store in those candy bins – Like I said, it was a very long time ago but I cannot forget it’s taste! There was just something about it… it’s chewiness, texture, and it was a little bit greasy. Delish. But since I’ve never been able to find it, Nibs have recently come into play. And they’ve won me over with their Extra Long Version… who knew you could write so much about licorice.
TWELVE
I love to learn. If workshops could be my job I think I’d be happy. I don’t like to do it in the typical classroom setting, but I do love to learn new things. It’s a childlike feeling when you learn about something new for the first time. It also helps us to be more well rounded beings – know more and more things… I don’t want to be a SME, I want to be a know something about everything kinda gal. Not there by any means and I do hate trivial pursuit because I can’t remember anything, but I do love to learn, even if it doesn’t always stick in my mind.
So…What will you see while you are here? Hopefully good things. That’s the idea. But you’ll find random children sometimes, my kids being kids, our home (if it’s clean enough), my husband, our favorite places around this city we live in, and maybe some fun travels if we are lucky enough. And maybe if I’m lucky enough, I’ll be able to impart some knowledge on you that you didn’t have before. Or you’ll be able to relate to something I write to know you aren’t alone out there because I know how lonely alone can feel. I just want you to be able to come here, see smiles, learn something new, and hopefully be inspired!
A BLOG ABOUT GOOD THINGS
So there you have it! A few things about me, my mindset, my life… you know, just a little window into me. I am not a super open person because I feel like people tend to burn me too often so while this might not seem like much to you, it is to me! Resolutions will come tomorrow, but this is going to be a good year and it’s a goal to share more!
So… With that! It’s nice to meet you!
