We started today by sharing house rules, but along with that, I’m hoping to follow these eight resolutions myself. They are to help me feel better, be better, and have a better quality of life! So… let’s get on with it! Maybe Better should be my word for the year?!
The year of 2020. This will be a good year. Let’s just put that out there… into the universe.
Eight things I vow to do better this year…
Be More Organized – Spend My Time More Wisely
This year I hope to be more organized in many aspects of life. I hope to get all those pantry shelves figured out, the cabinets to look pretty, the calendars to always be correct, and the closets to be more organized and open… Along with being more organized, I plan to TRY to schedule my time better so that other things can fall into place more efficiently. I hope that I can work on getting better with time management so that we can all have better moments and time together.
Sleep – Earlier & Better
We spoiled ourselves with a new mattress in 2019, so I’m hoping the better sleep will naturally come with having that. However, earlier is another thing. As a part of the first of my resolutions, I’m hoping to be better with our schedules throughout the days and in turn, getting the girls to bed earlier which means I can go to bed earlier. I tend to leave a lot of things for the 9pm-11pm hours, but then my kids never get to bed until 9:30pm so then I’m rushing around and staying up late. I’m hoping the time management will play into this being accomplished.
Be More Present
This is a big one. I think we always say this, but does it ever really happen? There are a lot times when I’m doing something with the girls or family and I’m on my phone. Always on the phones. And I’m saying this year we will not be on our devices as much so I can’t expect that without setting an example myself. This also means that while we continue to do fun things and share on the blog, there will come a moment when we are exploring where the phone will only be used for photos, or maybe even put away altogether. Hopefully the latter.
Be More Intentional
Sometimes it’s fun to do all the things. But then there are times when doing certain things doesn’t make sense or they push us too far, or it’s just doing too much. So this year, I hope to be more intentional in all that I do. In my writing, in my events, in my sharing… I don’t want to just share to share. I’ve been wrestling with this the last couple of months…
Commit to Exercise & Healthy Eating
I’m excited to say that I joined Weight Watchers for 2020 as part of this years resolutions. I have a fitness and weight goal which I may share another day, but until then I hope to commit to running 3x a week, possibly training for another half marathon, and introducing more yoga into my life! I really enjoy and feel so much better when I do work out and eat healthily. We don’t eat bad around here that much, but I should make a more conscious effort. When I’m not active or eating healthy, I notice a difference in myself. I am not as happy, I’m not as confident, I’m not as patient. So this year, I’m going to make sure to carve out time for making sure these things happen.
Focus On My Relationship
This year we will have been married for 10 years. It’s kind of crazy to think about. But I know that our relationship could be better and while we both have our faults, I know that I tend to be the one who pushes away. So I hope to work on this by being more open, being more vulnerable and showing more affection. These are all super hard things for me. I’m a wall. So one day I’ll get more into this, but for now, the goal is to work on loving more.
Create More Things
I feel really good when I’m making things… When I’m doing things… And while I really want to be a less is more kinda gal, I do want to create MORE things. Whether it be DIYs or printables or just art in general. It could even be creating more with the kids… I just want more imagination and creativity in this house at all times.
Spend Less
I’m hoping to have a no-spend January which I’ll share about soon, but besides that which might be moving to February, the goal is to pay off the debt by spending less. Yes, there are things we will still spend on, but I want to try to cleanse our house of all the things we really don’t need and hopefully sell those things to help pay off credit card bills, student loans, etc. Debt is a little overwhelming and it’s time to tackle it by committing to not add to it!
I’m looking forward to what I’m calling “Our Year” and I just hope new good things are to come! Let’s do this 2020 Resolutions!
Also, I’ve left these pretty vague so as not to disappoint myself! But I am working on making a printable or something to hang up in the house — probably the office where I spend the most time — so I see them often and am reminded of the goals for the year!
Do you take on resolutions each year or just try to set small goals throughout?!
