DATE IDEAS FOR EVERY MONTH

JANUARY
MOVIE + DRINKS — January is hard in the midwest with the weather. You could have 60s or it could be below zero. So you never know, which makes movie and drinks the best option for this winter month. Find a new movie you both want to see or maybe go to the artsy theater and watch something you might not normally pick! Try a theater like FLIX or Studio Movie Grill where you can get drinks in the same place! This makes for a shorter babysitter time!
FEBRUARY
MARCH
DINNER & A PLAY — With so many options anymore, you are sure to be able to find an opera, youth theater, college show, or even a Broadway play to check out. This one can easily be swapped with another month if there’s a show you particularly want to see! And depending on the time of the show, grab dinner before or after!
APRIL
MAY
SPORTING EVENT — Here in May, we have the Indy 500, and would you believe we’ve never been?! It’s a bucket list item. But while we have that one, there are always sporting events to check out! In May there’s probably indoor and outdoor options! And grab a park hot dog for sustenance!
JUNE
CASINO — During this summer month head over to the casino for some fun. There’s usually fun entertainment as well as obviously gambling. Play together or split up and enjoy the clinking sounds and chance at winning a jackpot. If you are on a budget, set your limit and stick to it. Also, playing the penny slots helps!
JULY
GETAWAY — While the kids are settled in with summer sleeping in and camps, plan a weekend getaway for just the two of you. It doesn’t even have to be far. Find a local boutique hotel and enjoy a night of quite with room service! Or, if you are wanting something a little bigger, plan something where you go a few hours away! Two-Four hours is always a manageable weekend adventure!
AUGUST
MOVIE NIGHT — With the kids back in school, early bedtimes are the ticket for this one! Once the kids are in bed, grab a beer, some popcorn, turn all the lights down and watch a movie you’ve been waiting for! Either rent one or pick the latest from Netflix. Date ideas don’t always have to be going out somewhere.
SEPTEMBER
GET ARTSY — It’s always fun to make things together. Find a local glass maker and see if they offer classes. These are typically a group event, but they are lots of fun and you are learning a new craft! Plus, you get to take your make object home with you to show the kids! Grab dinner at a fun diner close by!
OCTOBER
LOOK AT THE STARS — October is another random weather month here in the Midwest, but typically you can find a park or golf course to lay a blanket down and just watch the stars. Try to find all the constellations — print one out before you go.. or find an app that will help you! If outdoors isn’t available, then find a local planetarium! This is a fun one! And grab some champagne or bottle of wine for the evening too.
NOVEMBER
BOWLING — Have you all ever been Duck Pin bowling?! I don’t know if it’s coming back or not, but it’s really fun. Make sure to call your local Duck Pin or regular bowling place to reserve a lane for the two of you. Order a pizza from the concession stand and play until your arms are sore! Our local Duck Pin bowling facility is around a ton of great restaurants so you can always go to eat too!
DECEMBER
HOLIDAY SHOPPING – December can get quite hectic and there’s always shopping to be done so why not do it together? Schedule a sitter for a Sunday afternoon and tackle the mall chaos together. Grab a coffee and shop ’til you drop (or however long your helper lasts). Make sure to have a list as this time of year will be very crazy, and also make sure to have some good laughs!
I hope this list of fun date ideas helps you with planning! If you need to find sitters, like I always do, keep an app on your phone called Bambino. We’ve had great success with them the few times we’ve used it! Or plan to use a local drop in care like Village PlayCare here in Fishers. We are excited for this new business and I’m sure you have something similar! I’ve also heard the YMCA has great childcare options if you only need a couple hours!
Have fun hanging out with your significant other for a change! I hope this helps take the stress out of the planning for date nights for you! It’s already helped me because they are now written down!
