I’ve been trying to think of fun things to do with the kids that weren’t too complicated, time-consuming, or messy. Kid’s crafts can be hard. Most of them are messy, no matter how hard you try. But I think we came up with three not only not too messy, but easy ones for you to try this holiday! A Valentine Craft should be fun and frugal!
DIY EYE SPY BOTTLES
These can be done for any holiday, or every day too! All you need is a clear bottle, a filler, and seek and find objects. I found my bottle at Michaels for around $1. For my filler, I choose candy hearts as this was to be Valentine-themed. Then I took a picture of my objects to find before I got started.
It’s so easy. Fill a little, drop an object. Fill a little more, drop another object. You can also put all the objects you are finding in at the end, but it was a little harder to get them to move about with the candy hearts. If you are making this for every day or using pink or red rice instead, then your objects will move around a bit easier.
Once you’ve done this and added all your objects. Create a seek & find card that lists or shows what needs to be found. Print out and attach with string.
Here you can see three of the 7 items! Can you find them?
You can make your own tag in Canva by taking a photo of the items to look for, make it the background, and add some details in text!
PAINTED RED & PINK ANIMALS
The best part about this little easy craft is that I have these animals all over the house. I also love the idea of pulling them out year after year and setting them on a ledge as valentine decor.
Grab a few plastic animals of any size. Pull out your red, pink, and white paint. GO. TO. TOWN. Make your animals striped, polka-dotted, or color-blocked. Just keep them all in the pink and red family and they’ll look so good when they are done. An easy and festive craft/art project that’ll be fun for years to come!
DIY LOVE CRACKERS
Do you all love crackers as much as we do?! These have been a holiday tradition at our home since having kids. But we normally only do them for Christmas. But why not do them for other holidays. All you need is some string, tape, tissue paper, toilet paper rolls, and candy!
Start by rolling your toilet paper roll with tissue paper. Roll is just like a burrito! This is easily done by the kids! Tape down once you get to the edge.
After that, grab your string and tie one end off.
Then add candy via the open end.
Then tie the other end with string and trim any crazy excess of tissue paper.
When you are done, let the kids color or draw on the paper. They could even decorate with stickers! Then set the table for dinner with these above their plates and you’ll take an ordinary family dinner to a SWEET one!
And there you have it! I know there are a ton of crafts out there for valentine’s day, but I’m working with a 5 year age gap at my house so the simpler the better because I have to let the little one do it too!
