Every year on April 22nd, we spend an entire day cherishing our planet. While we should take care of our planet every day, Earth day is still an awesome way to give back to her! There are so many ways to participate, but here’s a few of my favorite things you can do to celebrate Earth Day.
1. Pick up Trash
Grab a trash bag and go for a walk. Bring gloves too because this can get pretty messy, but walk around your neighborhood, park, or wherever and pick up as much trash as you can find. You’ll be helping the Earth and you’ll feel good when you are done and can see the clean spaces that are now trash and litter free. See more about the Great Global Cleanup here.
2. Plant something.
In my head, I can hear the “Plant a Tree. Trees for America. Plant a Tree for all the world to share.” But it doesn’t have to be a tree. Trees are great yes, but you can plant anything that will show the power of the earth. Create your own garden or plant some beautiful flowers.
3. Practice Recycling
Go through your pantry and mark all the items that could be recycled when they are finished being used. Give them stickers or green x’s – something that will stand out so you won’t accidentally throw them away.
4. Compost
Do you know how to do this?! You will just need a tub with a lid, some paper, and old peels and coffee grinds to get started. Look up more on composting here.
5. Celebrate
Share fun things you can do to remember how special the earth is!
