You might have noticed that I like to have fun with playhouses around here. Typically we dress the outdoor playhouse up for all the holidays, or at least we try. The last time we decorated it, it was in July for National Ice Cream Month and the kids begged me not to take it down. I fear that this month’s decor might be requested to stay as well. But since Halloween is coming, we tried to come up with a fun way to play with the girls outside and this one was a hit! Check out our Fortune Teller Playhouse!
Whenever I decorate the playhouse I try to be frugal because obviously, we are only going to use the decorations for a short time AND I don’t like to reuse them out there for some reason. I prefer to do it different each time. So I grabbed a few trims and fabrics at Hobby Lobby while they were on sale and other odds and ends from The Dollar Tree too!
All the other things – tree, wood table, table by the door, plants (dead and alive), table (similar) – we already had!
When playing around in the playhouse, don’t be afraid to steal things from other parts of the house because they’ll only be out there temporarily! And have fun with it! I even asked the girls to dress up and that really helped with pulling it together! They even picked their own costumes!
We made a crystal ball by grabbing the following at Dollar Tree:
Glass Orb – We found ours in the vase section
Halloween Headband – with tube things coming out of it
Beads
Battery Powered Lights
Decorative Fall Balls
Start by gluing the gold balls around the opening of the glass vase. I used hot glue and it ended up not lasting very long, but again, it’s temporary so that’s OK.
Cut the tubes off the Halloween Headband and insert beads into it.
Insert the lights to the tubes too!
Then snake the ribbons (we had three) into the vase.
Flip it over and voila!
