If you’ve followed on IG, you may have seen our recent shares of new murals, districts, and farmers markets around town. Well, this time, I wanted to share about their apparel design contest. One of the coolest things I’ve been able to be a part of this year is being a Fishers Ambassador! Fishers, IN is just outside of Indianapolis and I’ve been working with them on sharing different events and favorite finds around this booming city. Ella loves to enter contests where she gets to submit something she’s drawn so this one felt right up our alley to get behind. Plus, who wouldn’t love to see their designs being worn around by strangers! You can find all the details at the bottom of this post!
Last weekend, we made a couple stops around Fishers and revisited some artwork, local spots, and walked around a bit to gather inspiration for a shirt design! We started by walking around at the Nickel Plate District where you can find a couple of murals and just take in the sights of the library, fire station, train depot, and more!

From there, we hopped over to The District to see what we could find for inspiration there… Ella really likes this mural about being weird. Loads of color and also inspires inclusivity!
Then we drove by the lake to get some more inspiration to draw from.
After feeling like we’d gathered enough, we came home and started work on the t-shirt design. We used this template which I found was the easiest to print out. Make sure you don’t forget about the back too!
So here are the deets on how you can enter your very own design into the Fishers Apparel Design Contest!
Each design must include the following:
- Must include the name “FISHERS”
- May include “INDIANA”
- Design may include “1872” the year Fishers was established
- May include the Fishers Logo or Icon (found below)
- Designs may include the city’s tagline — “Smart. Vibrant. Entrepreneurial.”
- Should evoke the feeling of hometown pride and be for all ages
- Designs should be single color
- Designs should include your artist name
- Final Files should be submitted in Vector Format with any text converted into outlines for proper display
*If you are like me and have no idea what that last one means, you can find details on Vector Design here. I suggest scanning your design, saving as PDF, then visiting this website.
The winners will be announced and showcased on the City’s social media accounts and website! Winning artist(s) will receive a free apparel item with their design and a prize pack and you’ll get to see your artwork worn by Fishers residents!!! How cool!?!
There is a little fine print that you can find here and includes things like the design will belong to the City of Fishers once submitted and used for their store and other promotions and that the final artwork may be altered for printing purposes.
