Each year we (me) pull together a few items for the girls around different holidays. I think we do baskets for Valentine’s, Easter, Back to School, and Halloween. But I’m sick of having just a bunch of junk accumulate so this year for their Valentine’s baskets, I tried to be a little more thoughtful. Curating Valentine’s Baskets for girls doesn’t’ have to be hard! If you stick to a few key ideas you’ll have the best basket for your littles in no time!
Here’s what you need:
T-Shirt
There are so many adorable t-shirts out there and if I were a more planned momma, I would order the most adorable ones around. But alas, I’m the procrastinator mom so ours this time came from Target. They have adorable ones too, but my picks for our Easter Baskets last year still hold a special place in my graphic tee heart, so if you order early enough there are so many options out there!
Candy
Duh. Who doesn’t love Valentine’s candy?! You may have seen my previous charcuterie boards (last year’s too) which tend to be only candy in the end! But think of fun suckers for photo ops and small amounts so they don’t get too much of a sugar high! We grab goodies from The Dollar Tree because it doesn’t break the bank!
Play Items
This year, our play item picks came from the Target Dollar Spot. My oldest is really into fidgets so while they don’t ALL fall into that category, I think they work. I grabbed a bendy animal, a heart-shaped slinky, and slime (against my better judgment). Get creative here! I could have even grabbed things we need for sensory bins too!
Books
I ended up putting in The Princess & The Pea for Olive and Forgotten Fairy Tales of Courage and Kindness for Ella. You can see all my Valentine Suggestions here, but books are such a great way to put in something you can use forever! I didn’t do it yet, but sign them too if they have a special meaning! It’s fun to send books along with people in our lives that have a message written from a loved one in them!
Socks
I love a good sock for just about any holiday! But socks are one thing that I NEVER buy so buying them for just about every holiday means my kids always have socks that are growing with them! hahaha. It’s an ulterior motive, but it works and they love them! This year I got my oldest more like slipper socks because she’s at the age where she steals mine!
Flag Pennant
You can find these on Etsy or you can get a FREE printable option from me! These are a part of the free printable I’m offering to you! They really turned out adorably and I love a little additional height to the baskets too! Plus, they are so easy… print, glue to a stick, and then add ribbon, fabric, pipe cleaners to give them your own touch!
