Top Of the Morning To You! It’s St. Patrick’s Day and you are in need of something green right?! Well, anyways, you might be if you are anything like me… So I decided to try this and it worked pretty well so now I’m sharing how you can make your very own DIY Shamrock Necklace (or really any) shape!
First, you’ll need a few things, but believe me this craft is super affordable as long as you already have a glue gun!
Supplies:
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Silicone Mold – Shamrock Shape (I got mine at Michael’s)
Green Nail Polish
Green Glitter
Green Ribbon
First, make sure you have a good glue gun that is good and hot so you don’t have to break your wrists to squeeze the glue out. Add glue to the silicone mold to a desired height/thickness. I suggest doing at least half way up.
Once it’s filled up to your desired thickness, you can set it in the freezer for a short while to set. I did one set without putting it in the freezer and they both turned out the same. 🙂
Now, pop the glue shapes out of the mold. If you want it to have smoother sides, you might want to trim around the edges. I did on a couple of them to help it have a better shape.
Grab your favorite green nail polish (or paint even) and paint all over the shape. Multiple coats may make for a better coloring, but not necessary. We only did one coat for these due to time constraints and they are still super cute!
OTHER LITTLE MISS MARTHA DIYS
While the paint is still wet sprinkle some green glitter or shamrocks on there.
Once everything is dry, add some glue dabs to the back top part of the shamrock where you’ll attach your ribbon. You can use green yarn, ribbon, or any thing really for the chain. You could even use some old mardi gras beads if you have them lying around like my kids always do. Attach with glue to the back and let dry.
I had some green gingham and yarn to work with so we just went that route!
Once that glue has dried, try on your creation!
This DIY shamrock necklace is just too cute not to try and so easy to make by not breaking the bank!
