So the time has come to host your very own Halloween Party! I may or may not be talking about me when I refer to “you” but we can just let that one be for now… Here’s the deal. It. Must. Be. Epic. Yea, it has to be. Halloween parties leave a lot to be excited for… So why not make your Halloween bash the best one yet! Here’s a few tips to make your upcoming Halloween Party one of the best and one that people keep talking about!
PICK A THEME
This will set the tone for everything so make sure it’s good! It could be just a fun theme that covers all things skeletons, zombies, ghosts, etc… Or, it could be more specific like just witchy things or a haunted mansion or a a haunted hotel. Whichever you decide, try to keep the theme through all things and you’ll be sure to have the beginnings of a spectacular Halloween party!
CREATE AN EPIC GUEST LIST
Create a guest list of all your favorite people. Don’t forget work friends, neighbors, kids friends, etc. Make sure to invite those who LOVE Halloween too and aren’t afraid to put on some costumes!
CREATIVE INVITATIONS
This will also set the tone for your guests so make sure your invitation makes a statement. If you can afford it, creative invitations are the best! Ones you open, or include props get extra super bonus points. Anything that has texture or dimension get bonus points too. But, if you are just starting out, or would rather spend your money elsewhere for the party, you can still create your own somewhere like Canva. Add stickers to the invitations and confetti to the envelope to add a little extra. And don’t forget to consider things like Halloween stamps and wax seals. Remember, the more unique your invite is, the more people will want to come.
HALLOWEEN PRINTABLES
MINGLING STATIONS
Some of the best parties have places where you can mingle and hang with friends to catch up or chat about the amazing Halloween decor. Create a few different areas around the house where people can catch up and make sure to spread them out. Anchor them with candy or food!
CANDY CANDY CANDY
What is a HALLOWEEN party without candy?! Nothing. Nothing, I tell you. Yes you must have candy all over your home (or wherever the party is) and it must be good. Don’t just lay candy corns around everywhere – get the chocolates! You might even consider having a candy bar {which is sure to be a hit with the kiddos} where people can scoop throughout the evening or take some home at the end of the night!
MEMORABLE AND SPOOKTACULAR FOOD
Snacks are great to have lying around, but make sure you have a good spread. People like to eat. Food brings people together. And food is something that people continue to talk about. We talk about the food from our wedding 10 years ago STILL. So make sure you do a good job with gathering goodies. Think about what is easy, what people like, and what people will keep eating so you don’t have a ton of leftovers. Charcuterie is always a big hit as well as finger foods. And don’t be afraid for it to be Halloween inspired.
BEWITCHING DRINKS
Yes, there must be a bar. A skeleton bartender is always a nice touch too. But think about how you’ll set up some fun drinks. Keep is easy by offering 2-3 specialty drinks and then local spooky brews. Or depending on your theme, have witches brew or a mad scientists lab. Just make sure there’s enough and you have things like a cocktail shaker and garnishes too. Beakers, ice luges, vials, and shots are all fun to consider too.
COSTUME CONTESTS & PRIZES
Make sure to add COSTUME PARTY to the invitations and when you talk to people make sure they know there will be prizes for different types of costume winners! Figure out what categories you might use – best couple, best family, best diy. It’ll be so fun to offer up winners in different categories. You can also create fun trophies, medals, or gift baskets for prizes!
CREEPY DECOR
Obviously. But don’t forget your theme here. If you can keep the theme consistent through the decor and throughout the entire party it’ll all look so good in the end and just make sense. Use extra spooktacular touches like Halloween Tablecloths, black lights, witches cauldrons, etc. Think dark, dingy, and spooky and you can’t go wrong, no matter what your theme.

CAPTURE THE FUN
Make sure to capture all the fun throughout the evening! While it’s fun to have a photo booth, not everyone will want to stay in one place to take pictures. If you can, invest in a few Instax cameras and let them float around through the night. Make sure you have plenty of film and fun spots around the house where guest can pose if they’d like. Maybe they all take a photo with your favorite prop or around the fire. Plus, guest can take some of their favorite photos home with them!
