Christmas is almost upon us. It’s time to buy and wrap presents, and it’s time to spend precious moments with our loved ones. It’s also time to decorate and make our homes shine with lights, wreaths, and Christmas trees. There are ways you can decorate that won’t make a mess and won’t leave damage behind. Here are a few clever ways you can decorate this Christmas.
Use Command Strips
Command strips are every decorator’s dream. You don’t have to use screws or nails, and when you are done, you can take the command strip off the wall and it will look as if it were never there. Command strips are great for hanging lights, wreaths, or a board to display all of your Christmas cards.
If you or a previous owner went with drywall installation for your walls, putting holes in them can break away part of the wall or you may need to use an anchor to hang things up or screw things in, so using command strips will save you having to cover up the holes in your wall.
Gifts of Experience
Use Magnets
If you have a front door that is all glass and you want to hang a wreath without the bulky metal hook, you can use magnets. You can buy a large magnet with a hook on it, and when you hang the wreath from the magnet, you put another magnet on the inside of the window and your wreath will look as if it is suspended in place.
This can be done on all of your windows to give that perfect look of wreaths in the windows. Another trick is to use fishing wire or fishing line where you can suspend wreaths and no one will be able to see how it is being hung.
Use Ribbons On Your Door
An effective method of having a great holiday decoration is to wrap your front door as if it were a present. That means you can use actual wrapping paper to cover your door and make it look like a gift. A more simple way is to get large ribbon and simply put the ribbon on the front door to make it look like it is wrapped.
More Christmas Inspiration
The ribbon can be adhered to the door with tape, and no one will be able to see how it is on the door. From the street, your front door will look like a gift.
Make a Family Centerpiece
Get the entire family together to make a centerpiece out of your favorite things. You can go to an arts and crafts store and find all the things that everyone loves and you can make a centerpiece or candle holder for your dining room table. You can include family photos, cut out handprints of your children, and design trinkets that represent sports, movies, or whatever your family loves.
You can place the centerpiece in the middle of your table and always be reminded of what the spirit of Christmas is all about.
