Let’s be honest, the 2020s haven’t been the greatest to us so far, have they!? As mothers, we’ve really taken on a ton over the last almost two full years. So this year, while we are still battling covid among other things, there’s an urgency to get part of ourselves back. While I’m not setting lofty goals for 2022, I’m still setting some. I’m going to keep a meh outlook because I don’t want to get my hopes up…
But here goes… So my goals for 2022 are ….
To Finish One Room Every 3 Months
Since moving into our just over a year ago, I pledged to take things slow. Well now I feel like we’ve made no progress after having been her for a year so we are picking up the pace again. Look out for more décor ideas, mood boards, and a few DIY projects (at least one a month) which will hopefully turn into completed rooms. My entire downstairs is currently midway complete and feels empty. The goal is to make our house finally feel homier.
To Take Care of Me
I always say this and then it never happens. This can definitely take on very different looks. Sometimes it’s going to bed early, sometimes it’s working out, and sometimes it’s just some time away. This one might take a bit to get used to and get scheduled even, but I’m going to do it. I can’t be stressed out all the time – I’ll burn out. Breaking points are way too close so this goal for 2022 is super important to stick to.
To Feel Better
As a family (well, 3 of us) are vowing to lose 30lbs. That’s the goal. To lose it by April so my husband and daughter can go to the Las Vegas Knights opening game. For me, it’s to feel better about myself and in my clothes. I hate struggling to get the pants buttoned and getting winded going upstairs. And that last comment may be a slight exaggeration, but not really. I’m the heaviest and least active I’ve ever been. I just want to feel good about me again.
*This will include eating healthier, getting outside more, and obviously being more active*
*I have started Weight Watchers {again} and hope to accomplish a Mini Marathon by my birthday*
To Keep a Cleaner Home
If you looked around today you would never think this was a goal, but I swear it is. We are currently living in what feels like a construction zone, but this year we won’t be scrambling to clean up anytime someone comes over (I hope). The goal is to pick up when we are done and not leave messes for the morning, which turns into the afternoon, which sometimes turns into tomorrow. Working on better habits around the whole house will hopefully rub off on the girls… Small strides, but there are already some things sticking – like hanging up the coats!
To Save Money & Pay off Debt
Right before we moved, we did really well and paid off a bunch of debt, but somehow those damn credit cards really sneak up on you! Hoping to get our debt down to where it was, invest in some things, and save save save!
To Be Present
I’ve already felt a little more of this lately and the reason I can tell is that I don’t always have my phone AND my taken photos are less. I don’t want to take less photos, but I do want to put my phone down more. So making sure we are making memories, working together, spending time together, and taking it all in is going to be a top priority this year. Maybe I’ll actually read my copy of Hands Free Mama that I’ve had for years. haha.
While I could probably make a much longer list of goals for 2022, I think this year we are going to start small. Six things to stay on top of throughout 2022 and we’ll see how it goes!
And yes, I know it’s February. We are starting this years goals off about a month late due to some unforeseen circumstances that we needed to close up. Another reason why I’m not setting myself up for too much this year as we all know that life can throw you curve balls at any moment and we must be able to roll with the punches. So let’s hope this year turns around and we can kick these goals into gear and stay on track from this point forward!
