Ever since before we moved into our new home (well, we’ve been here two years now but it’ll be new to me for a long while), I’ve dreamed of a dreamy office space. Quickly it was decided that I’d use an open upstairs bedroom for my office because I needed a door to close for meetings and such. But my work isn’t only my day job, it includes crafts, blogging, homework, photography, fairies and more! So… the time has come to organize and refresh that space into something that’s somewhat presentable and actually inspiring… and here are my plans.
OFFICE SPACE
Right now the space is a disaster with a capital D. Seriously. I feel like a hoarder when I look at the space. Hell, maybe I am. Jury’s still out. But it’s cluttered and overrun by too many things. So, the plan is to declutter and create more of a studio space in the basement. Husband doesn’t know this yet, but I’m sure he’ll be super excited LOL.
So, the upstairs office will be more office-y and possibly hold another bed for when guests come (that’ll come later on but why not plan it out now?!) and the space in the basement that will someday be the office when it’s finished will by my styling/blogging studio for now. Here’s the gameplan for both.
Needs Upstairs –
*More room to move
*Clean and Decluttered space
*Desk & Chair (have)
*Daybed
*Organized Cubes
desk // daybed // dresser // cabinet on dresser // rug // artwork // lighting above art // swing arm lamp
storage cubes // wall pinboard // ottoman
Upstairs will have a more airy feel… Whites, neutrals, a desk, bed and dresser with some organization items built in. Here’s my plan for that – again, let’s be clear that this will not all happen quickly, but I have a really hard time visualizing a space without seeing it in a plan like a mood board.
Needs Downstairs –
*Shelving for Styling & Art Items
*Dropcloths for behind shelves
*Table to use for projects and as desk space
storage shelves // table (similar) // rug
Downstairs will hopefully have a more studio feel – think like a little more color, some clutter, and a bit artsy. I want the girls to have a space to create too where they feel they can get a bit messy. I’m hoping to add a funky table down here and create a few backdrops to use for different things.
Currently the basement is just a hodgepodge of everything and not finished. We have a little area to hang for when the girls have sleepovers, a small area of workout things, and then the rest is literally whatever we throw down there. My plan is to make at least this back corner presentable and useable for prop styling and such. I was contemplating moving everything down there a while back, but I’m not ready for that yet.
