It’s your birthday! Your 12th birthday! How have we gotten here so fast?! I say it every year, but it feels like you just got here…
Over the last eleven years, we’ve watched you grow, change, try new things, quit those new things, make friends, move on from friends, have great successes and not without some trials along the way. And each year you amaze us with your ability to keep us all laughing and smiling.
A beautiful, sometimes I think old soul, who wears your emotions on your sleeve.
A great friend who thinks of those around her and wants to make sure everyone’s included.
The loudest Xbox player.
An amazing and creative artist.
A fun-loving girl with her her own style.
Confident in your ways.
My favorite Ella.
Your dad and I have loved watching you grow over the last year. Just looking back at last year’s birthday, it’s crazy to see how much you’ve changed. Not only have you grown into this gorgeous young lady (nailing her makeup game), but you are taking on new challenges it feels like daily! Whether it’s kicking butt in school this year, taking on a new sport (that we may wish a teensy bit you jumped into sooner), or starting to help out more at home, you have really rocked your 11th year and we are so excited to watch you grow even more in your 12th.
Taking on new commitments has been hard and challenging at times, but you have tackled them with grace and grit. Trying new things is hard, but it’s good to be uncomfortable. I love that you have found something that you are loving for the moment. Just keep swimming.
There’s still some things you could work on, but I think those will come with time. So instead, here’s a few things I wish for you in your 12th year around the sun…
…That you’ll keep your core group of friends and that those friendships continue to blossom.
For a cleaner room more often.
…Continued hard work on things including health, school, and movement.
And success in the things you wish to be successful in… art? business? swim? school?
Growth in your love (and kindness) for your sister. She adores you and just wants to be your friend.
…Fun, lots and lots of laughter, and core memories to be made.
That you’ll continue to try new things!
I know no matter how this year goes, it’ll be a great one overall. You are an amazing beautiful wonderful girl and, like I said before, we love watching you grow into the best person you can be!
Happiest Birthday to my Ells!
